The Pichincha Peak (4698 masl) is a volcano in Ecuador situated in the Andes west cord at 12.5KM of Quito City.  It’s climbing start at the portal (Cruz Loma, 4050masl), which can be reach via cableway. ¨Rucu¨ means Old in the Quechua language.  This volcano cease its activity in the Pleistocene era.  Since then it´s peaks had eroded due to several glacial which had grinded its hillsides leaving only sharp and rocky peaks.The scenery which is observed from the Ruco Pichincha, it volcanic due to the presence of the Guagua Pichincha, el Padre Encantado (the enchanted father) and El Cóndor Guachana (The Condor Guachana).  Additionally Quito City can be seen in its splendor.



We will departing from Quito at 08:00hrs toward the cableway then to Cruz Loma where we will begin the ascend to the Rucu Pichincha.  Estimated time to reach the summit is 3 and half hours. Returning at mid-afternoon.
